- VP, Underwriter for PO Finance & Recourse Factoring
Description
Seeking an underwriter for our PO finance and recourse factoring divisions where we provide flexible financing solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. Our facilities close working capital gaps quickly and efficiently through our diligence process and relationship-focused service.
This position plays a key role in supporting credit decisions within a fast-paced lending environment. Focuses on evaluating transactions, assessing transaction-level risk, and analyzing borrower and buyer creditworthiness. Unlike traditional bank underwriting, this role requires comfort with dynamic risk profiles, shorter decision timelines, and structured deals tailored to growth-stage businesses.

Key responsibilities:
- Review and analyze applications and supporting documentation.
- Verify purchase orders, supplier contracts, and buyer creditworthiness
- Conduct financial analysis including review of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Perform risk assessments and identify potential credit, operational, and fraud risks
- Assist in preparing underwriting reports and credit memos
- Support senior underwriters in structuring finance deals within company risk policies
- Communicate with clients, brokers, and referral sources to obtain required information
- Maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation, and update Salesforce
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Portfolio teams to facilitate fast funding decisions
- Assists with legal documentation, due diligence, and client onboarding
- Monitor approved deals for performance and flag early warning signs
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and client-facing activities as needed (light travel required)
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, trade finance, or banking
- Strong understanding of financial statements and credit risk assessment
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- High attention to detail, organizational ability and prioritizing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in asset-based lending, factoring, PO finance, or working capital finance
- Familiarity with transaction-based underwriting
- Understanding of supply chain finance structures
