About Us

17 Mile Drive Tax is a full-service accounting firm in Walnut Creek, CA offering tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial advisory services to individuals and businesses. We're in an active growth phase and looking for a Senior CPA to join our team and take on a meaningful, client-facing role from day one.

 The Role

This is a hands-on production role — not a review-only seat. You'll prepare complex returns, own client relationships, conduct first-pass review of junior staff work, manage a bookkeeping portfolio, and serve as day-to-day mentor to other CPAs. If you want to do real work, own real clients, and have room to grow, this is the role.

 What You'll Do

Prepare and review individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, 990)

Work directly with an assigned client portfolio in a client-facing capacity

Conduct first-pass review of staff prep before Managing Partner sign-off

Serve as technical supervisor with mentorship opportunities across the team

Identify planning opportunities and communicate them proactively to clients

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Active California CPA license in good standing

5+ years public accounting experience

Strong prep and review skills — you do the work, not just oversee it

Prior mentorship or supervisory experience with junior staff

Clear, professional client communication

CCH ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or Drake experience preferred

Bonus Points

Experience at a small to mid-size public accounting firm

California-specific tax knowledge (FTB, S-corp elections, franchise tax)

High-net-worth individual client experience
