Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our member’s headquarters team in Novi, MI. This is a critical leadership position reporting directly to the President, with responsibility for financial reporting systems across corporate finance, asset allocation, audit, cash flow, budget, general ledger, and revenue analysis. You will play a central role in supporting our member’s aggressive organic growth targets by ensuring seamless accounting controls, best practices, and compliance across all internal and external financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and techniques to eliminate redundant processes in both manual and automated accounting and financial reporting systems
- Analyze financial data to identify growth opportunities across markets and business operations
- Manage accounting for large capital projects
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including actual vs. budget analyses and cost allocations
- Maintain accounts receivable, ensure timely customer invoicing, and develop AR activity reports
- Oversee the general ledger, including bank reconciliations, payroll tax reconciliations, and period-end close
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, timeliness, and security of all financial records
- Process federal and state taxes and provide documentation for external auditors
- Provide financial analysis to the President covering budget, debt service, and capital planning
- Collaborate with accounting and HR teams on monthly commission payment reporting for sales representatives
- Lead annual revenue projections, budget reporting, and budget quality control as part of the Budget Project Team
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls in compliance with corporate policies, evolving to meet dynamic growth requirements
- Proactively keep pace with internal and external accounting changes and best practices
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Extended experience with modern accounting software systems
- Knowledge of Sage ACCPAC and/or multi-currency accounting is a plus
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with European accounting practices, German in particular is a plus
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight — proactive by nature
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
