Forensic Accountant - Regulatory EnforcementLocation: Central Birmingham (Hybrid: 4 days per fortnight in office)
Salary: £91,000 + Excellent Benefits (including 10% pension)
Position: Permanent
Goodman Masson are partnered with a UK regulatory body to recruit an experienced Forensic Accountant. This organisation plays a critical public-interest role by overseeing high standards in corporate governance, financial reporting, and audit.
Working within their independent Enforcement Division, you will lead complex financial investigations into potential misconduct, auditing failures, and accounting breaches. This role offers high visibility, regular collaboration with major statutory authorities (such as the SFO and FCA), and direct oversight of significant enforcement casework.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Financial Investigations: Manage avenues of enquiry, analyse massive volumes of financial data, and utilise electronic review platforms on high-profile cases.
• Conduct Disciplinary Interviews: Prepare for and lead formal, technical interviews with subject partners and senior industry figures.
• Draft Expert Reports: Produce comprehensive investigation reports to form the core basis of instructions for external legal counsel and independent experts.
• Cross-Agency Collaboration: Work alongside case lawyers to liaise and share vital intelligence with external regulatory bodies.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, coaching, and development to line management and junior investigative staff.
The Ideal Profile
• Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Experience: Indicatively 6-12 years of specialised experience in forensic accounting and complex financial investigations.
• Technical Skills: Proven expertise in e-discovery tools, financial data analysis, and a solid understanding of audit standards and regulatory disciplinary processes.
• Communication: Exceptional capability to translate complex financial findings into clear written and verbal evidence for non-accounting audiences.
