We operate a portfolio of consumer-facing brands across search, shopping, and travel — including Startpage, MapQuest, and CouponFollow — and build the apps, search engines, and online publications that power them.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will play a critical role in our Tax Department.
Requirements
What You’ll Do:
- Reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Tax.
- Leads the preparation and review of quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provisions, tax footnotes, and related SEC financial statement disclosures prepared in-house.
- Oversee the preparation and review of corporate federal and multi-state income and franchise tax returns prepared internally, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
- Manages the preparation and review of outsourced federal and state partnership tax returns, including coordination with external tax advisors.
- Oversees partnership tax distribution calculations and related compliance requirements.
- Maintains tax department filing calendar and ensure all tax returns, extensions and estimated payments are made in a timely manner.
- Oversees U.S. sales and use tax, VAT, and other indirect tax compliance, including coordination with external service providers where applicable.
- Manages federal, state, local, and international tax audits, serving as the primary point of contact with taxing authorities and external advisors.
- Partners closely with business unit leaders, CFOs, controllers, accounting, and finance teams to obtain information necessary for tax compliance, reporting, and planning.
- Assists with domestic and international tax planning initiatives, evaluating tax-efficient strategies and business transactions.
- Performs technical tax research, prepares memoranda supporting tax positions, and leads special tax projects as assigned.
- Supervises, mentors, and develops tax staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Monitors proposed and enacted federal, state, local, and international tax legislation and accounting developments, evaluates their impact on the Company, and recommends appropriate actions.
- Identifies opportunities to improve tax processes, strengthen internal controls, and leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax function.
- Supports mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic transactions by providing tax due diligence and structuring assistance, as needed.
- Monitor current and proposed federal, state and local and international tax developments to determine impact on the company.
What You’ll Bring:
Minimum 8+ years full-time experience, preferably in a large public accounting firm and/or similar experience with a publicly traded company.
Knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation as well as ASC 740 and FIN 48.
Highly motivated, detail-oriented person.
Ability to operate beyond standard scope of responsibility.
Possess strong decision-making skills and be able to operate independently.
Highly organized and adept at prioritizing multiple tasks.
Strong project management skills. Must be able to take a project from initiation to completion.
Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Undergraduate Accounting Degree required.
CPA/Masters in Taxation Degree preferred.
