Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation

Gauntt, Koen, Binney & Kidd, LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2–8 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense and personal injury litigation, to join our Dallas office on our litigation team that primarily handles our commercial trucking defense docket. The ideal candidate will have strong research, writing, and litigation skills and be comfortable managing cases with appropriate supervision from assignment through resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense and personal injury matters
• Conduct legal research and analyze factual and legal issues
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend hearings, mediations, and trials
• Develop case strategies in collaboration with partners, clients, and insurance carriers
• Evaluate claims, damages, liability, and potential exposure
• Negotiate settlements and assist with case resolution
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties
• Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, and billing entries
• Provide timely case evaluations and status reports as required

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas
• 2–8 years of litigation experience
• Insurance defense and/or personal injury litigation experience preferred
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Deposition and courtroom experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff

Compensation:

Relocation: Candidates must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Dallas, Texas prior to starting.
