About the role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Accountant to join a collaborative finance team.
This role is responsible for providing accounting and transactional support across the business and ensuring strong financial integrity, accountability and sustainability through accurate reporting, analysis and compliance.
You will work closely with finance colleagues and key internal stakeholders to deliver timely financial insights that support sound decision-making and organisational performance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records within the accounting system
- Prepare and post journals
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support interim and annual financial audits
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards
- Prepare monthly management reports and financial analysis
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts
- Analyse financial trends and provide recommendations to management
- Support stakeholders across the organisation to understand and interpret financial results
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Complete administrative requirements accurately and within required timeframes
- Participate positively in team activities, meetings and development opportunities
- Maintain high standards of data integrity, confidentiality and record accuracy
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an accounting role
- Progress toward or completion of CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to extract and analyse large volumes of data
- Experience working with ERP and CRM systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- A continuous improvement mindset with a proactive and inquisitive approach
- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to work collaboratively and positively within a finance team
Desirable
- Experience using a mid-tier accounting system
- Experience in not-for-profit environments
